Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life 2019

Bronnfar Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life 2019 in ómós do Chlann Ghriallais ar an amhránaí dúchasach Sarah Ghriallais, ag ócáid thaitneamhach i gClub na Múinteoirí, Cearnóg Pharnell, Baile Átha Cliath 1, ag 9pm ar an Satharn, 6 Aibreán 2019. Fáilte roimh chách.

Bronntar Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life gach bliain ar dhuine nó ar dhaoine a meastar go bhfuil saibhriú faoi leith déanta acu ar an amhránaíocht dhúchasach thar na blianta.

Is as Muicineach idir dhá sháile i gConamara do Chlann Ghriallais. Tá aithne fhorleathan orthu ar fad mar amhránaithe a bhfuil stór saibhir amhrán acu agus stíl amhránaíochta a bhfuil an dúchas le braith go láidir inti.

Is óna n-athair Pádhraic Griallais go príomha a fuair na deirfiúracha Sarah, Nóra agus Nan Ghriallais an dúil a bhí acu sna hamhráin i dtosach agus tá an dúil sin curtha ar aghaidh acu do na glúine eile sa teaghlach ina ndiaidh.

Is mar chomhartha ómóis agus measa don traidisiún teaghlaigh seo agus an chaoi ar chuir siad an traidisiún sin i láthair do phobal níos leithne ar fud na tíre agus thar lear a bhronnfar Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life ar Chlann Ghriallais le linn na féile i mbliana. Is í Sarah Ghriallais a ghlacfaidh leis an nGradam ar son a muintire uileag.

Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life 2019 will be presented to the traditional singer Sarah Ghriallais on behalf of the extended Griallais Family during the Sean-Nós Cois Life Festival at 9pm on Saturday 6th April 2019 in The Teachers’ Club, 36 Parnell Square, Dublin 1. All are welcome.

The Griallais Family
are from Muicineach idir dhá sháile in Conamara. They are widely known and respected as a family of singers with a very valuable and rich store of songs and a singing style that embodies all one would expect from traditional singers in the Irish language. The sisters Sarah, Nóra and Nan Ghriallais first got their interest in songs from their father Pádhraic Griallais and they have passed this rich tradition on through generations of their family and have brought these songs to listeners within their own local area and far beyond for many years.

It is as mark of respect and gratitude for their steadfastness in preserving and presenting this family tradition and that of their local area to a wider audience throughout the country and abroad that Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life is being presented during this year’s festival to Sarah Ghriallais who will accept it on behalf of the extended Griallais Family.
